General Summary:

The Associate Director, Medical Information (Fact Checking) leads the activities and functional capabilities necessary for the checking of referenced exteranl communication materials. This position coordinates the development of Medical Information standards for fact checking and assigns fact checking jobs to Managers and Senior Managers with in Medical Information. This role manages and develops a team

Key Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Assists with the development and implementation of the strategy, vision and departmental policies, procedures, and processes of Global Medical Information (GMI) to provide timely and accurate medical information responses, fact checking of external communication materials, and industry leading customer service
  • Provides internal review of draft medical and commercial external communication content to ensure accuracy and alignment with the references. Reccomends publicly available sources for data on file references when appropriate
  • Participates in cross-functional, strategic, team meetings to present analyses of GMI fact checking trends and insights
  • Assists with the development and training of employees on the team through coaching and mentoring to facilitate the attainment of individual and departmental goals and objectives
  • Assesses GMI services through key metrics and briefs upper management on these results while identifying areas and opportunities for improvement.
  • Manages, recruits, directs and develops staff, maximizing contributions to the teams to align with departmental priorities and business objectives
  • As a people manager within the organization, may have financial accountabilities and human resource responsibilities for assigned staff.


Knowledge and Skills:
  • Demonstrated success in developing and building teams; coaching/developing direct reports
  • Ability to be independent or work collaboratively in a dynamic, team-based matrix environment
  • Excellent written and oral communication and literature searching skills
  • Ability to think broadly about scientific communications and the impact on medical content
  • Ability to develop collaborative relationships with internal colleagues
  • Specialized knowledge of the stages of drug development and the available corporate and public resources used to construct a external communication materials
  • In-depth knowledge of relevant (area-specific) legislation or regulatory guidance governing the provision of medical information and applicable data privacy legislation
  • Strong analytical skills and an ability to synthesize data sets and study summaries into meaningful oral or written communication materials


Education and Experience:
  • Master's degree in a health-related science
  • Typically requires 6 years experience, with some experience working in either Medical Information or Medical Affairs in a biotech/pharma or equivalent combination of education and experience.
